The "Dancing Master" was a little overacted. Chubby was decent.

Hi there. My advice for you is to strengthen your contact poses and camera shot choices. Practice contrapposto and line of action, and experiment with capturing poses in effective, interesting perspectives rather than simply head-on. Also check out Ed Hook's "Acting for Animators" if you haven't already.
